Creating An Interview

recruiTT gives you the ability to add questions to your job descriptions to filter candidates, but where do you start? Here is an introduction to creating an interview, followed by some examples.

recruiTT enables you to ask 5 different types of questions:

1) Must-have questions

These questions carry no points but are pre-requisites for the job. They ensure that no Candidate without those requirements are successful. Example questions may include ‘Are you currently an I.T. Manager?’, ‘Do you have visa to work in the U.K?’ or ‘Do you have a driving licence?’

2) Yes or No

All you have to do is tell us the question e.g. ‘Do you have blue-chip experience’, and whether your prefer Candidates that answer Yes or No, and the points to be awarded for a correct answer.

3) Multiple Choice

All you have to do is tell us the question e.g. which do you consider yourself most to be, the possible answers you want to offer, and the desired answer, plus the points to be awarded.

4) More or Less

Once again, tell us the question and whether you want the answer to be more than or less than a specific number e.g. ‘How may years experience do you have?’ and you tell us your desired Candidates with give an answer ‘More than’ and ‘10’

For all the questions, there is a default of 5 points per question answered by the Candidate as you desire although you have the facility to change the score form any of all questions from 1 to 10.

5) Other Questions

There is also a final section where you can ask any other question but this section is not awarded points.

You can assign points to the first 4 question types. You can also vary the point allocation per question depending on its importance. So, for example, you may assign 5 points to the question: Have you worked in Insurance before? But 10 points to the question: Do you have a Prince2 Project Management qualification? In this example, you are less concerned about their insurance experience than their ability to Project Manage using Prince2. This prevents candidates who answer ‘no’ to the first question being penalised for it.

The total points at the end of an interview provide the candidate’s score. Candidate’s will only be successful if they achieve the minimum score set by the employer in Candidate Filter.

You cannot assign points to ‘Other questions’. These are not scored, but may help you to determine whether one candidate is more suitable for the role than another.

So what kind of questions can you ask? The best way to think of appropriate questions is to think what kind of criteria you provide to a recruitment agent and now you can set them yourself directly.

Here are some examples of each type to help get you started. Most of the questions below are quite generic – you may wish to be more specific (i.e Do you have supply change management experience in the retail industry? (Yes/No))
