Candidate FAQs

General

Recruitt enables employers to interview prospective candidates online. Jobs are posted with online interviews set by the employer. Candidates can apply by completing the interview. Traditionally, recruitment agencies provide the gateway between candidates and employers, sifting CVs to find candidates to present to the employer for consideration. recruiTT replaces that need by providing a service which allows candidates to stand out from the crowd by presenting themselves directly to employers via the online interview.

No agencies involved – simply employers and candidates communicating directly. Recruitment without the middlemen.

How does recruiTT benefit candidates?

Ever tried to get your CV noticed amongst a cast of thousands? It’s not easy. With recruiTT, you have the opportunity to shine in front of a prospective employer by completing an online interview set directly by the employer. Avoiding the middle man (recruitment agencies) saves time and effort and gives you the opportunity to get your CV in front of the real decision makers – the employers.

How does it work?

In a nutshell, the employer posts a job and puts together a series of questions in the form of an online interview. When you find a job you wish to apply to, click Apply and you will be taken to the Online Interview. This is an interview that has been set by the Employer when they posted the role. There are 5 types of questions

(1) Must-have questions

(2) Yes or No

(3) Multiple Choice

(4) More or Less

(5) Other questions

When the employer set the question, they also set the answers that their ideal candidate would reply with and gives each question points (‘Other’ type questions are not scored but may further help employers filter

candidates.) If your answer meets their requirements, you are allocated the points and at the end of the interview, your points are totalled. Any candidates achieving the minimum pass score set by the employer will have their CV sent to the employer directly.

This will mean that you will only be put forward for jobs that you are more likely to be recruited for, saving effort, time and money.

What does it cost?

recruiTT is free for candidates.

Registration

How Do I Upload a CV?

When registering, you are required to add at least one CV. To do this, simply click ‘browse’ in the CV section and navigate to a CV stored on your PC. You will also need to provide a name for the CV to enable you to differentiate between different CVs should you have multiple CVs uploaded. For example, you may have one CV entitled ‘Retail’ and one entitled ‘IT’ to be used when applying for retail and IT jobs respectively.

Note, that only one CV will be active at any one time. To choose which one is active, click the radio button on the registration page next to the title of the CV.

You can add multiple CVs by clicking on the ‘Add another CV’ link which appears in the CV section in the registration page.

You can also add a CV at any time following registration by going to My recruiTT and clicking on the ‘Edit Account Details’ link.

Why do I need to upload my CV when registering?

Without an uploaded CV, an employer has no way of evaluating you against other successful candidates should you pass the online interview. Recruitt is effectively a CV filtering service that allows employers to receive qualified CVs and provides candidates an opportunity to get their CV in front of the decision-maker.

Why do I need to complete my job experience when registering?

As well as waiting for candidates to apply for their roles, employers can also search for their ideal candidates. They can do this by searching for your CV or by searching for you based on the skills and job titles you enter when registering. The more details you enter in the ‘Skills’ box, the more likely it is that an employer will find you.

Once an employer has found you, they can request that you apply for one of their roles or view your CV.

Searching for jobs

How can I search for roles?

From the Homepage you can perform a quick search by entering keywords and desired job sector and location.

To run a more thorough search, go to Advanced Search from the Homepage or Job Search once you login and you can search based on lots of details such as salary and job type to find your perfect job.

You can also ‘save’ a search by running the search and entering a name for the search at the top of your Search Results and saving. This way, next time you go to your My recruiTT page or the Job Search page you can click the name of the search and it will run that search again without having to re-enter the criteria.

Can I ‘save’ job searches?

Yes. To ‘save’ a search, go to Advanced Search or Job Search and enter your search criteria and submit the search. Above the Search results you will see a box to enter a name for the search. Enter the name for the search and select ‘Save Search.’ This way, next time you go to your My recruiTT page or the Job Search page you can click the name of the search and it will run that search again without having to re-enter the criteria.

Can I get notified of appropriate jobs?

There are three ways of being notified of jobs.

1) Email notification

recruiTT provides you with the opportunity to be notified on a weekly basis of jobs that meet your requirements.

To set up your job email, click on Advanced Search in the Job Search section of the home page. Enter your search criteria and then save that search by providing a name for the search (i.e. supply chain jobs) and clicking on the ‘save search’ button. . Then go back to the Advanced Search page by clicking on the Job Search link at the top of the page and select ‘Add to weekly email’ against the search you just saved.

To stop receiving these roles by email, go back to the Advanced Search page and select ‘Remove from weekly email.’

2) Employer search

Employers have the facility to search for CVs. If they come across your CV, they may contact you directly.

3) Skills search

This service is unique to recruiTT. When registering, a candidate can enter their skills and experience. This should not include personal information to protect your identity.

When an employer registers a job, they can then search for you based on the skills and experience details entered. They will see your name but no further details. They can then contact you via recruitt.  You will receive a message on the site and an email informing you that an employer has requested that you apply for a role.

Applying for jobs

Why should I do an interview online when I simply send off my CV to other websites?

Traditional websites are simply advertising boards. Everyone who applies, regardless of the quality of CV, has their CV forwarded to the company or agency who placed the ad. Typically this means that hundreds, if not thousands, of CVs are received. These then have to be filtered by hand. Typically this is done by recruitment agents who are not normally experts in the role and therefore may ignore relevant CVs or simply do not have the time to sift all applications. It is not unusual to apply for roles via these sites and never hear anything.

recruiTT was set up by former candidates who were tired of this scattergun approach and trusting their careers to pot luck. recruiTT allows the candidate to stand out from the crowd and effectively filter themselves! Pass the online interview and candidates join a select few whose CVs will be sent directly to the employer (not an agency).

Your chances of getting your ideal job suddenly got a lot better.

Why can’t I just send my CV to an employer?

Most recruitment sites work precisely like that. You and thousands of others send your CV to either a recruitment agency or to an employer. Sometimes they will read your CV, sometimes they will skim-read them and other times just select a random group due to time constraints. Why put control of your career in the hands of others?

With recruiTT, by successfully completing an interview set by an employer, you will automatically stand out from the crowd. Your CV will be one of a select few seen by the employer.

What’s more, on most sites you are not actually sending your CV to an employer. It is being sent to a recruitment agent who may or may not pass it on.

What happens if I fail the online interview?

Employers have different requirements. Just because you do not pass an interview does not mean that you will not pass an interview for a similar job.

Furthermore, by failing an interview at an early stage, you have potentially saved time and effort pursuing a role that you may not have been suitable for.

How will I know if I have been successful?

If you pass the online interview, your CV will be submitted to an employer.

Pass or fail, you will be notified via email regarding the result but you will also be able to see the outcome of your application either through the Messages section in My recruiTT or on the My Jobs page.

If you are successful, the employer will then review your CV. If they wish to invite you for a further interview, you may be contacted by them directly or via a further email and message through the site. If you they do not wish to take your application further, you will also be notified by email and a message on the site.

So if I pass an interview, have I got the job?

Not necessarily. The interview is an opportunity for employers to sift the strong candidates from a cast of thousands. Typically, this is what recruitment agencies do for the employer. Now the candidate has an opportunity to put themselves forward by completing the interview. If passed, the employer will then contact you regarding next steps. This may be a final face-to-face interview, a telephone call, or even an offer of employment!

Can I apply for the same role twice?

No. The purpose of the site is to put the right candidate in touch with the right employer. This benefits both candidate and employer. The aim is not to keep taking the interview until your answers match theirs. This would not be right for you or the employer. Answer the online interview carefully the first time.

How can I prevent my CV from being seen by certain companies i.e my current employer?

When you register, you can set up your Do Not Apply list. You will see a list of companies who are registered on the site. You can add any company to your Do Not Apply list. This can be your current or old employer as well as other companies you would not wish to work for.

Then when you login and search for a role, no jobs advertised by those companies will appear. This will prevent you from accidentally applying to a company you do not want to apply to.

The same list of employers will also be prevented from searching your CV.

The list of employers using recruiTT is updated all the time so remember to keep updating your list. Note that this is an electronic match so cannot be 100% guaranteed.

How can I keep track of all my applications?

On your My Jobs page (in the My recruiTT section), you will see a list of all roles you have applied for and their status. There are 4 statuses:

1) Interview Passed - awaiting Employer

Passed the online interview and CV sent to employer

2) Interview Unsuccessful

Your answers did not meet the employer’s requirements

3) Application successful

Employer has reviewed your CV and will contact you further about the role.

4) Employer does not wish to take application further

Employer has reviewed your CV and does not wish to take your application any further

5) Application rejected

Employer has closed the role without replying to you

6) Waiting on employer

After 1 month of being in status ‘Interview Passed - awaiting Employer’ recruitt makes the assumption that the employer does not wish to take your application any further.

What if I do not answer the questions honestly?

If an employer tells us that the answers do not tally with your CV or with your answers in a further interview, we reserve the right to remove your registration from the site. More importantly you are only wasting your own time as the employer has written proof of your answers and will take action later anyway. It simply is not in anyone’s interest to answer the questions dishonestly.

Can employers find my CV even if I don’t apply for jobs?

Yes. Employers can search CVs based on keywords and request you apply directly for a role.

Will an employer respond immediately?

Some employers will immediately review all CVs sent to them and reply to you very quickly. Other employers may choose to review all CVs when the role closes and therefore there may be a wait before you are contacted.

Troubleshooting

Why am I not receiving any emails?

Firstly, ensure that you have entered the correct email address by logging in and selecting Edit Account Details.

If they are correct, the emails may be being filtered out into your junk mail. Please check with your service provider how to ensure that recruiTT emails are not treated as junk. For web mail, this is often changing your junk settings to allow emails from recruiTT.co.uk through.

Employer FAQs

General

recruiTT allows employers to find ideal candidates directly. No more sifting through hundreds of irrelevant CVs provided by agencies who don’t fully understand the employer’s requirements. Why pay thousands of pounds for someone else to select candidates for your company when you know your company best? As with traditional job sites, you can maintain corporate anonymity for as long as you wish.

Why pay thousands of pounds for someone else to select candidates for your company when you know your company best?

At a fraction of the cost, recruiTT enables you to recruit the ideal candidate based on your needs without the hassle of being inundated with thousands of unqualified CVs whilst maintaining your confidentiality.

Payment

Employers only pay a low cost for each CV received where the candidate has met the required pass score. Unlike other job sites where employers pay regardless of suitable candidates, you only pay for qualified CVs.

When do I pay?

Unlike other recruitment sites where you pay even if you do not find any suitable candidates, with recruitt, you will only pay for the CVs you are sent.

recruiTT is a pay-per-CV service and you only receive CVs which have passed your interview. You only pay based on results. You can choose to receive a limited or unlimited number of CVs.

When you post the role, you will be asked to enter your credit card details. At this time, only a 1 pence charge is taken in order that your card details can be verified. Then, on the Posting End Date, you will be charged against that credit card according to the number of CVs you have been sent.

Why are my credit card details held?

Firstly, because we do not charge you until the Posting End date, we must keep your details but these are naturally kept securely.

Secondly, to make it easier to post jobs in the future, all you have to do is re-enter your security number rather than all the credit card details. However, for security, your credit card details will not be displayed and it will show as XXXX XXXX XXXX nnn.

Creating/editing a job

How do I post a new job?

Enter your login details and you will be taken to your My recruiTT page.

Select ‘Post New Job’ and enter the job details such as job title, job description and salary, as well as job advert start and end date. Then the clever bit…

In order to ensure that you only receive the CVs of the most appropriate candidates you can ask all applicants a number of questions.

You set the question and also the desired answer. You can also give each question a score out of ten allowing you to weight questions according to their importance.

Finally you set the Candidate Filter to decide the ‘pass score’, when you wish to receive CVs and the maximum number of CVs you want to receive.

For a more detailed explanation on setting up a job, see FAQs relating to entering Job Details, creating questions for the interview and setting up a filter.

How do I enter Job Details?

There are 3 parts to the Job Details page.

1)    Details about the role

You must enter a Job Title, Job Description and Location for the advertisement. For Location, you can enter either the city of region that the job will be based.

Showing a salary for the role and your company name in the advertisement are both optional. That way you can post a job without revealing your company name to applicants.

2)    Job search criteria

To enable the candidate to search for your role, you can set minimum and maximum salary, geographical location, etc. This is used when a candidate searches for your role, so please be specific so that you only get the appropriate candidates applying.

3)    Posting start and end date

Posting Start Date is the date the job will first appear on the site. This can be today and the job will appear immediately. The Posting End Date is the final day the role will be advertised. You can set any date you wish but it must be within 2 months of the Posting Start Date

How can I maintain my company’s confidentiality using recruiTT?

If you do not want to reveal your company name in the job advertisement, do not enter it in the Job Details sector when posting a new role and it will not be displayed.

For candidates, we offer a service for them to ensure that their CV is not forwarded to a company that they would not wish to apply to, for example, their current employer. We ask the candidate identify which companies they do not wish to apply to from a list of companies registered on the recruit site. Therefore, we reserve the right to include your name in the list although no actual roles will be associated alongside it, it will simply be a list of all companies registered with recruitt.

How do I delete a Job in My Jobs?

If your list of jobs is too long, simply delete from the my Jobs list.

Can I withdraw a role early?

This will take you to the Job Review page where you can ‘Reactivate job.’ All candidates that were classed as successful when you withdrew the role will remain and be part of the maximum Number of CVs if set. Further candidates will be filtered according to your Candidate Filter criteria.

Can I change the Posting End Date?

Yes. Go to My Jobs and select the role. This will take you to the Job Review page and select Edit/View Job Details. You can change the Posting End Date before it elapses but it must still be within 2 months of the date the job first appeared on the site.

Also, if you decrease the Minimum % Score, all previous candidates that failed but now pass will be become successful. However, if you increase the Minimum % Score, all previous candidates that passed but remain as successful even if they do not meet the new Minimum % Score.

You can also change the Maximum Number of CVs you wish to be sent. If you have chosen to be sent CVs as the candidates apply and you decrease thenumber to less than the number of already successful candidates, the role will assume the quote is filled and the advertisement will be removed from the site to prevent further applications. However, you will be charged based on the actual number of successful candidates.

You can not change whether to be sent CVs as the candidates apply or on the Job Posting End Date.

Yes. Go to My Jobs and select the role. This will take you to the Job Review page. Select edit/View Job details and you can change the job description search criteria, etc.

Creating an interview

On the Job Review page, select ‘Set Interview Questions’ and then choose the type of question you wish to ask. You also can choose how many of this type of question you wish to set. If you remember more questions after you have created the job, you can still add them later.

For each Interview Question, enter the question you want the candidate to answer and the desired answer. In the case of Multiple Choice questions, you also must enter the options the candidate can choose from.

Then, for each question, select points out of 10 based on the importance of the candidate getting the desired answer. The default score is 5 but you can increase or decrease based on the importance of the question.

What types of questions can I ask?

There are 5 types of questions you can set:

1)    Must Have Questions

These are for essentials such as ‘Do you have a visa to work in the UK?’ These questions can have either a Yes or No answer and if the candidate’s answer does not match your desired answer then the candidate will immediately fail the interview. Must Have Questions should only relate to criteria that are a must for the role. These questions are not scored as they are an absolute requirement.

To set, enter the question and whether the desired answer is Yes or No.

2)    Yes or No

These questions also have a Yes or No answer but may be not as critical as Must Have Questions. For example, ‘Do you have blue-chip experience?’

To set, enter the question and whether the desired answer is Yes or No. Amend the score per question as appropriate.

3)    Multiple Choice

These questions can have multiple answers from which the candidate can choose only one. For example, ‘Which option do you consider most closely matches your personality?’ – extrovert, team-player, leader, calm.

You set the question and also the possible answers the candidate can select. Four possible answers are the default but you can choose less by selecting ‘delete’ next to the answer box. Similarly, you can add more choices by selecting ‘Add an answer.’

To set, enter the question, the answers you want the candidate to select from and the desired answer. Amend the score per question as appropriate.

4)    More Or Less

These are question with a numerical answer. For example, ‘How many people do you manage?’

You then select whether you want the desired answer to be ‘more than’ or ‘less than’ a particular number. For example, to the question ‘How many people do you manage?’ you may select ‘More than’ and 10. This would mean that candidates who answer 11 or more would get the points.

To set, enter the question, select ‘more than’ or ‘less than’ and the related number. Amend the points as appropriate.

5)    Other questions

Any other question type is covered by this option. Points are not awarded for this part of the interview, but the answers may help an employer decide between candidates. An example question would be ‘Why do you want this job?’

These questions are for your information when reviewing candidates and do not carry any points towards the candidate’s interview score.

To set, enter the question.

Can I add or change Interview Question after posting a role?

Yes. Go to My Jobs and select the role. This will take you to the Job Review page. On this page you can edit an existing question, delete a question or add a question.

If you delete or add a question, previous applicants scores will remain unchanged and based on the questions at the time they applied.

Filtering Candidates

There are three elements to filtering candidates.

1)    Choose a minimum % score

This is the minimum % score that a candidate must achieve before you would consider them. For example, if your minimum % score is 70%, and a candidate’s interview score is 69% or less, they will automatically fail the interview and their CV will not be sent to you.

2)    Choose when you wish to get the CVs

You can choose to be sent the CVs as successful candidates apply or to be sent all successful CVs on the Posting End Date.

You should note that if you set a Maximum Number of CVs, the successful candidates may differ based on whether you choose to be sent CVs as candidate applies or on the Posting End Date.

For example, if you set a maximum of 5 CVs, if you choose to be sent as the candidate applies you will be sent the first 5 candidates whose score if more than your Minimum % Score.

However, if you choose to be sent CVs on the Posting End Date, you will be sent the 5 candidates with the highest scores (with score more than your Minimum % Score.)

3)    Choose the maximum number of CVs

You can set whether you want to be sent the CVs of all candidates who meet your Minimum % Score or whether you want to set a quota. This way you can set a limit on the number of CVs you will be sent.

How does the candidate’s score get calculated?

When a candidate’s answer matches your desired answer, they are awarded the points set for that question. After completing the interview, all the points are totalled up and calculated as a percentage of the possible maximum.

For example, If the maximum score possible is 25 and a candidate scores 15, their percentage score would be 60%

What happens if a candidate incorrectly answers a Must Have question?

If a candidate does not answer or fails any Must Have question, they will automatically fail the interview. This is regardless of the pass score they achieve for the rest of the interview.

recruiTT politely thanks the candidate for applying. The candidate will never know your name if you have chosen to keep it confidential.

When their CV is sent to you, the candidate is informed that an employer has been sent their CV. Still your name will not be disclosed unless you chose to enter it in the job advertisement. If you wish to invite them for a further interview, you can either contact them directly or through the site.

Go to My Jobs and then Candidates and you will be taken to a page where you can see all the successful candidates i.e. those that meet your criteria set in Candidate Filter. You can also see them by selecting ‘Candidate Review’ on your Job Review page. Select ‘Contact’ and then select ‘Candidate has passed the first stage’ in the drop-down box. recruiTT will send a standard message but you can choose if you also wish to enter a message. The candidate will be sent the message to both their email address and to their Messages page on recruitt. You can choose whether you want to your company name to be shown in the message or tick the ‘Hide Company Name box if you do not.

Note that the candidate can not reply through the site so please provide contact details if you wish them to respond.

What happens if a Candidate meets the score but I do not wish to progress further?

When their CV is sent to you, the candidate is informed that an employer has been sent their CV. Still your name will not be disclosed unless you chose to enter it in the job advertisement. You then have a choice of contacting them directly for an interview or if you wish to reject them and still maintain your confidentiality, you can reply to them through our site and they will never know who you are.

To send the candidate a message through the site, go to My Jobs and then select the role. You will be taken to the Job Review page. Select ‘Review Candidates’ and you will be taken to a page where you can see all the successful candidates i.e. those that meet your criteria set in Candidate Filter.

Select ‘Contact’ and then select ‘Candidate has been rejected’ in the drop-down box. You should note that a short message will be sent from recruitt informing them that their application will not be taken any further so you do not need to enter a further message if you do not wish. The candidate will be sent the message to both their email address and to their Messages page on recruiTT. You can choose whether you want to your company name to be shown in the message or tick the ‘Hide Company Name box if you do not.

This will then change the candidate’s status to Rejected on your review Candidates page.

What happens if I have been set my Maximum Number of CVs?

Firstly, you will be emailed to notify you that you quota has been met. When your quota is met, your job will no longer be advertised on the site, as candidates would automatically fail.

If you wish, you can then choose to increase the Maximum Number of CVs by selecting the job in My Jobs which will take you to the Job review page and then select View/Edit Candidate Filter.

What happens if I believe a Candidate has not answered the questions honestly?

Firstly, recruiTT.co.uk will of course refund any payment back to you. More importantly though, we will review the Candidate and remove them from our site if they are found to be acting dishonestly. Given that you also have written proof of their answers, it will not be in their interest to be dishonest as they can easily be found out and reprimanded accordingly.

Where are successful candidate CVs sent?

They are sent to the email address as specified when posting a role. This can differ by role and does not need to be the same as the details in your Employer Registration. This way, they can be sent to the relevant person recruiting. You can also review them through the site.

recruiTT does encourage you to ‘housekeep’ and even if you do not wish to take a candidate’s application further, all you have to do is go to the My Jobs page and select Candidates for the role and then Contact and choose to reject their application or Delete which will automatically reject the candidate. However, if you do not reply within one month of the candidate applying, we will automatically notify the candidate that you do not wish to take it further although you can of course contact them after that date.

Yes. In the Candidate Review page, select Review Unsuccessful Candidates to see al those candidates who applied and were filtered out. You can then download any of these CVs until your job is closed. Candidates who have their CVs downloaded in this way will be classed as successful and you will be charged accordingly.

Finding Candidates

How do I review the details of candidates on the site?

Go to My Jobs and then Candidates and you will be taken to a page where you can see all the successful candidates i.e. those that meet your criteria set in Candidate Filter. You can also see them by selecting ‘Review Candidates’ on your Job Review page which you can get to by selecting the role on My Jobs. You download their CV from the site, review the scores and answers to their Interview or send them a message through the site.

You can also select ‘Review Unsuccessful Candidates’ to see the names and scores of those candidates that did not meet your criteria set in Candidate Filter. You can choose to download a CV of an unsuccessful candidate but if you do, they will then be classed as ‘successful’ and you will be charged accordingly. If you set a Maximum Number of CVs, they will also be included in this if your quote has not been met yet.

Can I do a search for a suitable candidate?

There are two ways to find a candidate.

Select Candidate Search and enter the criteria of the candidate you want to find. You can enter candidate’s salary requirements, geographical requirements, job sector experience, etc.

You can also choose to set a minimum number of years experience in that sector.

You can then search based on the candidates’ skills and jobs held.

Then, you can choose either Skills Search or CV Search.

Skills Search

This is a free service whereby you will be shown a list of up to 100 candidates meeting your criteria (if there are more than 100, it shows the most recent 100 registered so it is worth searching every so often.)

Based on the skills of the candidate which you will be able to see, select those candidates you are interested in. Then, select Request Apply.

On the next page, select your live jobs that you would like a candidate to apply to.

This will then send the candidate a message from recruiTT telling the candidate that an employer wants them to apply for the role. You can also choose to add a message if you want. Please note that the candidate can not reply.  The candidate can then choose to apply as normal but you have made your job stand out from all the other posted.

CV Search

This search will provide the same candidate list as the Skills Search and the same ‘Request Apply’ service but you can also choose to download a candidate’s CV and send a message.

This is a paid service. You can choose whether you want to run unlimited searches for 1 month, 6 months or 1 year for one low cost.

What is the Do Not Apply list?

Because recruiTT puts candidates and employers directly in touch, and the employer can choose to post a role without revealing their company name, candidates have a natural concern about applying to certain employers in particular their current employer.

This can often stop excellent candidates using online recruitment sites.

However recruiTT offers a unique service to candidates where they can add employers to a Do Not Apply list. Any role from a company on that list will not appear in the job searches and the candidate’s details can also not be seen by any employer on the list when the employer performs a candidate search. Therefore, we do reserve the right to include your name in the list although no actual roles will be associated alongside it, it will simply be a list of all companies registered with recruiTT.
